Two Pitfalls in Affiliate Marketing

When you decide to use affiliate marketing as your revenue model, more often than not, you have to acquire knowledge in many areas. There are two major pitfalls that you have to avoid if you want to become a successful affiliate marketer.
The first pitfall is in becoming an information junkie. By this, I mean a person who spends all his time reading about the latest strategies or tactics. This person is subscribed to many newsletter by various internet marketing gurus and spends a lot of time “checking out” the latest product launches, etc.
He is forever searching for the secret, or the key that will unlock the way to his internet riches.
Sure, you need to keep abreast of new strategies and tactics. But before you do that, make sure your foundation is strong and set in place! (If you want to accelerate your learning, one course you can consider is the Insiders Secrets to Marketing on the Internet.)
You could allocate a certain amount of time every day for your education but make sure you spend more time on business building activities.
The second pitfall that people might encounter is to become overwhelmed by all the information. There are too choices and they get confused.
As a result, they are paralysed and either
1) Do nothing; or
2) Spend more time to research what to do. They become in danger of becoming an information junkie.
There is really no key or secret that you need to search for. The main thing is that you MUST be involved in business building activities every day. Doing things that will build your income and your business.
Picture a business which is ALWAYS improving. That’s what your business must be.
Here’s a list of things that build your business:
1. Adding an article to your website/article directories.
2. Getting a link to your site.
3. Writing a salesletter.
4. Building/testing an opt-in page.
5. Building/Emailing your list.
That’s it! Focus. Keep doing these things over and over again.
Focus on one strategy first to get it profitable as soon as possible. Once you see results and have additional time, you can explore other options.
