Getting Free Overture Advertising Credits
Sep 26th, 2006 by Martin Lee
Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture), is currently the second biggest pay per click search engine after Google. This article will show you how to setup your Yahoo Search Marketing advertiser account and more importantly, get US$25 in free advertising credits when you sign up.
The trick to getting the US$25 for new accounts is NOT to sign up directly from the Yahoo Search Marketing site. Rather, you have to search for special links to Yahoo Search Marketing that includes a promo code. I have included a banner link that contains such a code directly below:
After you click on the banner above, you will be directed to the Yahoo Search Marketing page. You can now see a promo code on the right with a sign up button. Click on that signup button and you will be asked to select a signup plan.
If you do not require Yahoo Search Marketing experts to review your site and assist you with the keywords, then simply select the “self-serve” option.
Otherwise, you can pay US$199 to signup for the fast track program to receive their assistance.
On the next screen you will be asked to select the country that you want to create your account. Unless you are targeting specifically one of the other local markets, you will want to select “USA” for an international market.
Next, you need to setup at least one keyword campaign as part of the registration process. If you have not yet researched your keyword, you can simply enter any keyword. Remember to change the bid amount to the lowest (US$0.10) so that it doesn’t receive any clicks. Anyway, you can always disable the campaign after your registration is approved.
The last few steps include filling in your contact information, billing information and a survey form which should be pretty straightforward. Make sure you enter a valid phone number as they might call you to verify your information before activating your account. That’s what they did when I signed up some time back. (Or is it that I have to call them? Can’t remember exactly on this portion.)
Have fun!
