Dr Mel Gill on Mind Over Internet
Oct 14th, 2007 by Martin Lee
The next speaker was a psychologist called Dr Mel Gill. His presentation was on “Mind Over Internet - Uncommon sense for uncommon wealth“.
Dr Mel talks about breaking free of paradigms to succeed on the internet, giving the 4 minute mile as an example. Here are some points from the rest of his session.
Always build confidence and self-esteem. It makes you magnetic and compelling
Discover your own motivation drivers. This will propel you forward.
The frame is everything. The parameters or paradigms you generate daily will expand or limit all the wealth, health, love, power , energy, and even the happiness you experience in your life-time.
Why Winners Win
- Mission
- Identify
- Beliefs and vlues
- Capabilities
- Environment
The brain is never at rest. It will complete any idea with up to 80% negative input.
Important trait of the best entreprenuer - Self direction and unrelenting commitment to goals.
A window to wisdom: When you argue with an idiot…now there is two.
Never assume: Always get the entire picture before you agree on something that will drown your time.
Is your intention to help people, or to make money off them?
There is no such thing as failure, only feedback for the next step. You never fail until you stop trying.
The meaning of you communication is the response you get. Communication is not what is intended, but what is received. You cannot not communicate.
People are always making the best choices available to them.
How do other people perceive you? Do they rejoice when you enter their live, or when you leave?
Change the stories in your head and you can change the world.
Our thoughts control our emotions and our emotions in turn control our behaviours.
Know what makes you happy and sad.
Say “so what?” more often!
Watch what goes into your eyes, your ears and your mind.
The entire presentation by Dr Mel was content rich with many insights about the human mind. It was quite fast paced and humorous. Unfortunately, I didn’t really have enough time to note all his points down. And of course, it isn’t directly related to internet or marketing.

I’ve heard Dr Mel Gill speaking in person before too, Martin. :)
Indeed, he was fast, funny, even hilarious..
He used to write alot abt generating business/ money-making ideas etc, days before the net caught on here.

Strange.. How come my comments got cut off?
@ all the weird places? ;(

I’m not too sure if self-confidence/ esteem is a prerequisite or even a vital key for wealth & business (offline or online) success. Maybe as a psychologist Dr Gill focuses on the “self/ human within” aspects.
Sometimes success comes when we set our hearts on things, on ideals, on goals - way way bigger, larger than ourselves.
Perhaps an essential key is one’s ability to pick oneself up, n try again, n persevere ahead in different methodologies, different goals even—with immense self-confidence, or while struggling in it. Or often, while one’s burning within a flame flickering in belief & hope. Quietly but surely burning.
I believe many times, we do the best work—when we’re most afraid. Won’t U think so?
Hi TA,
What do you mean cut off? I don’t see any problems with your comments.
Hi TA,
I have amended your comments for you.
Stepping out of your comfort zone allows us to truly grow. I think to achieve success, a pig-headed determination is needed. Without self-confidence, keeping this determination might be difficult in the face of failure.
Oops, my apologies for the mess I’ve unwittingly made here, Martin.
If I can clean up by deleting the cut comments, I will. But I can’t. :)
This so-called doctor is quite a crackpot of bullshit. How someone “angry and jealous” with the whole world be “the happiness guru”?
Open your eyes and smell the rat… then you understand why he was kicked out off the radio!
Martin, U may find it hard to believe..
But I’ve heard of something similar to what Timothy has commented abt this doc.
A few years ago, a fren told me he actually called in “live” during one of doc’s radio airtime. Fren asked a couple of qns. In an emotional & agitated tone, the doc actually demanded to know my fren’s name etc.. Over the air!
Don’t tell me this incident (& others?) has him in trouble with radio?
Sigh.. ;-(
Hmm TA…small world..
But I think we shouldn’t be so quick to pass any judgement without knowing all the facts.
Small world indeed, Martin. :)
So far what is openly discovered is that this so-call dr Mel Gill is the one who got sued by others for bad faith and the lack of integrity over some internet domain names and for cybersquatting. He lost these cases, of course.
That’s a very untrustworthy and dishonest man. What else can he do behind to get at people?
Hi Sean,
Any links where we can find out more about those findings?
I would suggest to analyze the background of this so-called guru as he does not walk the walk as he cannot be for himself what he wishfully thinks others to do…
Basically: pure crap.
